Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book you for my wedding?

Typically, booking 12 to 18 months before your wedding is your best bet for making sure we’re available, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you want to see if we can photograph your wedding!

How does the whole two photographers thing work?

We are so excited to be working together as a team because we think it’s the best way to capture all of the moments from your day in as many ways as we can! Sam does most of the prompting, while Elena checks to make sure everything looks awesome, gets extra angles, and comes up with new creative ideas! We edit photos as a team, too, so you get more than just one set of eyes looking at your photos before they get to you! We also split up when necessary (for example, often Elena gets venue detail photos while Sam is photographing families), and when we work together on your timeline, we’ll figure out together what works best for your day!

What’s your turnaround time?

For large events, like weddings, the photos take 6 weeks (at most) to edit, so we put it in our contract with you that you’ll have your wedding photos back in 6 weeks or less! Smaller photoshoots, like engagement sessions, typically take 3 weeks to edit.

What photos do you deliver?

We deliver full-resolution files (without watermarks) of any images that we think you might want. Our goal is to include as many good photos as we can, and we’ll never choose not to include a photo because we have “already included enough.” If we think you’ll like it, it belongs in the gallery. If you’re blinking or mid-chew, it doesn’t! About 90% of the images we deliver will be in color (10% black and white), and if we think an image would look great in both black and white and color, we include both versions of the image. In general, editing includes adjustments to exposure, color correction, and minor retouching. The goal of editing is to make sure each photo represents the beauty of your day without any distractions. Our contract will include a print release, which will allow you to share or print your photos however you would like!

What does the booking process look like? Is there a deposit?

Once we work out all of the details for a contract together, we just need a signature on the contract and a 25% initial payment to book the date. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your event.

What do you do to make sure you won’t lose our photos or miss a photograph due to equipment failure?

We photograph important events, like weddings, with at least three cameras, each of which has two memory card slots. This allows us to have a backup of every image we take to ensure that if one memory card fails, we still have all of the images saved on a second card. Should one of our cameras fail completely (knock on wood), we bring an extra backup camera to ensure that we won’t miss a thing! When we get home from an event or photoshoot, we save a copy of your images to two external hard drives and keep an online backup, just in case! Your photos are safe with us!

Do you have Insurance?

Absofruitly! Wouldn’t leave the house without it!
